The success of our campers is centered on our age-specific groups,
excellent staff, and our wide variety of activities. At Tate’s
Day Camp, we provide traditional camp activities like swimming,
arts & crafts, music, hands-on nature study, archery, boating,
fishing, sports, games, and group initiative activities. We also
offer several camp activity surprises called "Big Blasts"
that occur unannounced throughout the summer – Big Blasts
may include special parties and/or guest speakers. Through hands-on
activities and low counselor to camper ratios, camp builds self-esteem
and provides an excellent opportunity for individual growth and
maturity.
Different
weekly themes help to keep camp exciting and fresh for our campers
that come all summer. For a closer look at a typical week, there
are two sample group schedules in the back of this handbook. Please
keep in mind – these are only samples and your child’s
specific weekly schedule will vary. Because of the wide variety
of activities we offer, there is often not enough time for a camper
to participate in all of them!
All
campers are divided into age-specific groups so they can interact
with others who are on their physical and emotional levels. For
reasons of safety, the age group of the child determines many camp
activities. (i.e. only 2nd graders and up participate in archery.)
Due
to the structure of our program, all campers must be completely
potty trained and at least age three by the 1st of June. Our young
campers have a blast, but they must be fully qualified for their
true camp experience.
Our
modern 50+ acre camp facility includes many large buildings, outdoor
forts and campsites, a fishing pond, and three swimming pools. We
have recreational fields, woods, an archery range, climbing wall,
group initiative course, several stages, a campfire ring, amphitheater
and natural areas for environmental study and exploration.
